With the continuous development of children, children are also changing in demand for furniture, the various sorts and varieties and the different classes of furniture become the trend of development. But the survey of market found that the many design of current furniture are a smaller version of the adult, and the large components of consideration of design are consumers—parents think what are the children needs, rather than the real needs of children. Therefore, in order to make the children furniture better services to children, both the function and design of furniture for children need to be studied further.Children’s furniture modular design can meet the demand of children for furniture in a certain extent, in addition to meet the basic functions, the modular structure also can stimulate a child’s imagination, cultivate the manipulative ability. In view of this, the research content of this subject is to proceed from physical and mental characteristics of children, based on the theory of modular design, research and discuss on children’s furniture modular design method reasonably and scientifically. The specific contents are as follows:(1)To determine the situation of children’s furniture market through the way of market research and so on, and in-depth analysis of the characteristics of the market existing products, determine the direction of the next step in design.(2) Analyze the physiological and psychological characteristics of2—12years old of children,based on the modular design principle, the theoretical analysis is to guide the design reasonably and scientifically, and better services to users ultimately.(3) Using the theory of modular design, analyze the furniture module design process,mainly based on the functions decomposition of the system, analyze the suite and the design of the panel and accessories.(4) Through the research and analysis of the above article, summed up the principles of children’s furniture modular design—safety, practicality, ecological; design factors—color design, semantics design, function design, form design; and draw two ways of children furniture modular design—independent design, the user participation, analyze the case and execute the design practice finally, make the prospects for further research.To sum up, based on the demand of children furniture, combined with the design principle of the modularization, analyzed and studied children’s furniture, in the research process, always pay attention to the combination of theory and practice, and puts forward some reasonable and valuable design principles, aims to design children’s furniture which can meet the user need and also of great relevance to applications.
