With the advancement of city, the forest of reinforced concrete buildingsbecomes people’s new home life. Under the condition of high pressure andfast-pace life, many social problems of the number of single men and women onthe rise, the problem of empty nesters, one-child withdrawn character, etcresulted. Keeping pets is the best way to solve these problems and tocompensate the lack of emotion for self society. Along with the increase of thenumber of the pet, some new industries like pet furniture products emerged.However, as the design and the development of China’s pet furniture productsare still at the primary stage, so more attention and research are needed.In this context, this paper proposes the design research of pet furnituremodular from the interactive perspective. It takes the pet cat and pet dog as theresearch object and takes the people, the interaction of people and pets in theresearch subject. The purpose is to make pet furniture better satisfied with petand pet consumer demand, play an important role as a medium between peopleand pets and deeply reflect the pet in the bridge of the emotional meaningbetween people. The current China’s pet furniture market and the life of pet breeders and petcat and dog are understood through the investigation method and observationmethod. We also analyze the interaction design, modular design and theindividual behavior data between people with pets. On the basis of analysis, thefactors, principles and methods of the pet furniture modular design from theinteractive perspective are summed up. And then the application of case analysisproves the theoretic observations summed up and design practice of pet cat anddog furniture is did based on experience method summarized. The practiceproves that the feasibility and applicability of proposed view.The main research contents:(1) Through market research, we analysis andsummary the existing market of pet furniture product design and find problemsand determine the direction of the design.(2) Through the observation, findinginformation and talking with breeders, we understand common pet cat, dogbehavior characteristics and psychological characteristics of pet breeders and theinteraction relationship between both of them.(3) The factors, principles andmethods of the design of pet furniture modular from the interactive perspectiveare summed up based on design theoretical, we further clarify the size, shapeand function, material and other factors of pet furniture design. Analysis anddesign practice are made by applying the proposed principle, research is did byapplying theory with practice.Finally, the pet cat furniture products by applying design practice areactually used, which basically meet the pet cats and pet owner’s needs also meet the needs of the interaction and obtain good effect. It arrives that the design ofpet furniture modular from the interactive perspective meet the functionalrequirements for products of pet and people, and also provide an effectivemethod for interactive needs of people and their pets and for life fun andemotional compensation. This topic has a certain theoretical guidingsignificance to pet furniture design and can be studied and discussed as a way ofpet furniture design.
