In recent years, the domestic coal cutter manufacturing has experienced rapid development. Coal cutter production can be not only selled on domestic markets, but also exported to foreign countries. However, in terms of the coal cutter’s development level, there is a large gap between our country and developed country. It mainly reflectes that domestic coal cutter’s low reliability and shorter lifespan of key components. Planetary mechanism placed in the coal cutter’s arms is used to transmit torque. Coal cutter is always working in extreme condition and complex loads. All of the factors mentioned above lead to planetary mechanism easy to failture, then affecting the reliability of the whole coal cutter. So, it is necessary to analyze the key components of shearer planetary mechanism, in order to improve the level of coal cutter’s design and manufacture.This subject mainly is based on dynamics and fatigue theory.The cutting part’s planetary gear mechanism of MGTY300/710-1.1D is analyzed.First, planetary gear mechanism virtual prototype is builded by Pro/E and ADAMS.The model is verified to be right.The affection of the gear contact parameters to simulation result is analyzed.Then, the rigid-flexible coupling model of planetary gear mechanism is builded by the software ANSYS and ADAMS.The affection of flexible planet carrier to simulation result is analyzed.The time history of planet carrier’s load and the dynamic process of planet carrier’s deformation are obtained.Then,planet carrier’s maximum load is found out.The carrier’s statics analysis is carried out by ANSYS.According to the result of the analysis, the insufficiency of planet carrier can be obtained.Then,the analysis of planet carrier’s fatigue life is performed by ANSYS/Fe-safe.The fatigue life nephogram and the value of fatigue life is obtained.The weakness of planet carrier is found out.Finally, according to the above analysis,improvement measure is proposed for increase planet carrie’s stiffness.The subject, the fatigue life of coal cutter cutting unit’s planet carrier is calculated by the CAE analysis. The analysis result also shows the planet carrier’s stiffness don’t meet the requirement of the design. This subject can be used to help designer fully grasp the performance of the production, reduce the cost of research&development, offer references for designing new products and making reasonable maintenance plan. At the same time, the method, proposed in this paper, can not only be easily used to analyse the load and formation of flexible body, but also provide an effective way to study flexible body’s affection to complex multibody systems.
