Marine oil spill will cause great damage to local ecological environment thatcould take ten years or even decades to recover, and further more marine oil spill hasa serious effect on the local tourism and economy. Scientific communities pay muchmore attention on marine oil pollution. If marine oil spill accident occurs, it is veryimportant to detect oil spill and its influence scale quickly and effectively in order tocontrol and clean oil spill as well as follow-ups matters. The advantages of the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), including itsindependence of weather condition, the capability of obtaining data in full day andnight and its high resolution, makes it be one of the most effective space bornesensors to detect marine oil spill quickly and accurately. The thesis presents the design and accomplishment of the software of the oil spilldetection using SAR data based on the hybrid software model, which combine theincremental and falls model, and Visual Studio2008(MFC)as development platform. The software realizes the read, display and preservation of SAR data such as ERS(*.001)、ENVISAT(*.N1)、TerraSAR-X(*.xml、*.tiff)、RadarSat-2(*.xml、*.tiff) and CosmoSkyMed (*.HDF5). The software could achieve radiometriccalibration, the correction of antenna pattern, speckle noise suppression, geometriccorrection and projection transformation. The image segmentation is realized basedon the threshold, Otsu and clustering methods, and the software could distinguish theoil spill from the look likes based on fuzzy logic system combining background meanvariance ratio, the second-order entropy, angular second moment, complexity andtarget shape factor. Finally, we utilize MFC to realize basic function of electronicchart with ArcEngine and the spill detection results could be superposed ontoelectronic chart to make it clear and easy to analyze the possible pollution sources. The software with user-friendly and easy to be operated interface could beworked in different operating system and graphics cards and the functions could beextended in the future.
