The process of material selection is associated with all design and manufacturing problems of products, as well as the environment. It is also the main point of Green Manufacturing. This paper presents an intelligent method to deal with the material selection problems considering many environmental parameters. There are two main points in the study, Ashby chart and fuzzy logic, used in the analysis process. The meaning and forming process of Ashby chart is introduced, as well as the mathematical function of fuzzy logic model. An effective model is set up with the material information from the CES Selector. Using the linguistic terms, problems in the condition that actual information is unknown can be solved. Using Visual B and object-oriented programming, part of the material selection model is developed to achieve the implementation of material selection for cutting tools.The material data is related to the choosing process, which tends to be the inference of the research on the condition that material data is unknown. This way the method is made more available and user-friendly.
