Abstract/Summary:
Chitosan is the only one of natural alkaline polysaccarides in the world that wasobtained by alkaline deacetylation of chitin from crustacean species, fungi and insects etc.Due to its nontoxicity, biodegradability, biocompatibility, and broad-spectrumantimicrobial properties, chitosan has currently received a great deal of interest forbiomedical and pharmaceutical applications such as wound dressing, drug carrier andtissue engineer and so on. However, the processing and extended applications of chitosanare frequently limited by its insoluble in common organic solvents and water because ofthe presence of rigid crystalline domains, fromed by intra–and intermolecular hydrogenbonding in its structures. To improve the water solubility for the further application of chitosan, thewater–soluble chitosan derivative-Ncarboxylethyl chitosan were prepared by the mildMichael addition reaction in this thesis. The micro-size composite particles were further prepared by spraying of the solutionof water-soluble N-carboxylethyl chitosan obtained and Zinc Oxide (ZnO) nano particles.Subsequently, the micro-size composite particles were characterized by FT-IR, laserparticle-size analysis and SEM, etc.The experimental results showed that there is a strong hydrogen bond between thechitosan molecules and ZnO. And the absorption betweenchitosan molecules and ZnOincreased gradually as the particle size of macro-size composite particles increased whenthe content of ZnO in feed increased.
