Gear is one of the most important fundamental machine components, it isgenerally applied in modern industry and manufacture. As a result of complexprofile, the gear is difficult to processing. The development of gear manufacturingis closely related with process method and the support of processing equipment. Theresearch of CNC grinding and grinding machine play a very important role in themanufacture and development of the gear. With the development of numericalcontrol technology, forming grinding is becoming one of the most effective methodsof fine finishing of gear. In order to meet the functional requirements of individualusers, the CNC system has a tendency to open structure, and the users could carryout second development on the basis of the initial system.The Siemens SINUMERIK840D CNC system provided a well platform for theuser to realize secondary development. With the help of secondary development, thevarious functional modules can be integrated in the system, and the software whichwas developed by users integrate the working experience of operators, simplifyworking process, facilitate maintenance and management. This research has beenstudied the large CNC grinding machine, and the project has developed thesecondary development of grinding software for involute gear grinding based onSINUMERIK840D CNC system. The friendly interface of control software, editedby Visual Basic,was developed to meet needs of parameter input, contourcalculation, parametric spline interpolation and grinding parameters. The designstyle of interface is concise and easy to operate, and with the assist of dynamic linklibrary which was created by VC++the softkey definitions are realized.To embed and communications of procedures, the developed software wasported to OEM platform, and appropriate configuration files were compiled. Inaddition, in the development platform of OEM kit, simulation tests could be carriedout on PC. Then the correctness of development has been verified by actuallyprocessing on the machine. Users could input parameters in the grinding software ofHMI, in this way parametric function of automatic processing and the specificneeds of CNC grinding machine are achieved, and the efficiency of programmingand machining are greatly improved.
