Pama Machine Tool is global market leader for CNC heavy boring and millingmachines. In the year2012Pama opened its first overseas production plant in ShanghaiLingang.During the first year of production in China, Pama Lingang faced a significantloss, mainly due to parts delivery delay and supply chain management problematic. Our2012production master plan couldn’t in fact be satisfied. In this analysis we will review the totality of our process lead time starting fromthe customer’s order, and ending with the machine delivery to point out all theproblems that have led our company to the inability of reaching the planned productivecapacity. The analysis goes through different kinds of lean techniques implementations, such as Value Stream Mapping, focusing on the target of reduce the machine lead timeand improve the supply chain management. The complexity of the product and the need to make it suitable for specificcustomer’s requirements, makes the implementation of those improvement methodschallenging.
