In modern manufacturing industry, the clamping of workpiece is the chief issueconfronted in the process of machining and the designing of fixture has become animportant mean to ensure the qualities of products. Empirical and analogy methods areadopted in traditional fixture designing, meanwhile designers need to search lots ofmaterials and manuals. These methods are characterized by long period, high cost, lowstandardization and generalization, which cannot satisfy the demands of modern marketwith multispecies and small batches and the integration of CAD/CAPP/CAM. Inaddition, lots of thin-wall structural components which are overlarge, stiffnessless,changeable, poorly coordinative and orientative are employed in the field of aviation inmodern manufacturing industry. Under this circumstance, the designing of fixture arenot sufficient, thus seeking of new methods for designing fixtures is very essential.Generally, orientation locating and clamping are involved in the process offixturing, while the research of Computer Aided Fixture Designing orientation mode isone of procedures in the process. Application of Computer Aided Design andManufacture (CAD/CAM) becomes more and more widespread entered the21stcentury in the field of designing products and handicraft, and chief CAD/CAMcompanies try to adopt PLM to integrate all of the relevant functions in systems toestablish Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems. Computer Aided Fixture Designis one of indispensable techniques in establishing Integrated Manufacturing Systems,which directs the development of computer and information technologies in modernmanufacturing.Designing for locating scheme is an important task in the process of fixtures’design and analysis. After summarizing the development of fixtures agile design andrelevant studies home and abroad, this thesis expatiates theories of orientation and itscomponents selection in fixtures optimization design. Firstly, in light of the number oflocating points, the processing information match index of locating reference isproposed. Secondly, according of the geometrical and topological relation, thegeometrical information match matrix of workpiece is proposed from three levels ofpoint, line and surface. And then, the fitness index of workpiece is constructed as well as its corresponding weight. Thirdly, the decision function of locator scheme isformulated with combination of the processing information match index. Finally, sometypical examples are illustrated to discuss the usage of the proposed an automaticapproach to locator scheme matching and3d modeling software UG4.0platformtestifies the feasibility of the mode.This discovery belongs to basic applied research, which emphasizes the theories ofComputer Aided Fixture orientation and the development of its practical technologies.Through the study of this thesis, it can bring a theoretical significance and applicationvalue to the research of improving the speed and qualities of fixture design.
