Resources and the environment are global hotspot issues. With fast development ofindustrialization and urbanization, resources scarcity and environment pollution are moreserious with each passing day, becoming a major problem that our government faces.Geological survey is constantly strengthened to discover more mineral resources andenhance the explorability and comprehensive utilization of mineral resources, so as toaddress the problem of resources scarcity. Resources in tailings are also important minerals, whose redevelopment and utilization enjoy considerable economic value, and at the sametime will solve the ecological pollution made by current tailings pond to the surroundingenvironment. The paper will, based on geochemistry and ecological environmental geochemistryfeatures of typical elements in Hanxing’s tailings pond, study on features of artifical depositlike tailings pond and the recycling of tailings resources from the aspect of element. Onethe one hand, a scientific and accurate assessment should be made on the exploitability oftailings resources and resulting economic benefit; on the other hand, the importance andurgency of redeveloping tailings are put forward with the negative effect to the ecologicalenvironment of mining area brought by mining and discharging tailings.By systemic drilling test and analysis on Xishimen tailings pond, it’s found that theaverage grade of TFe2O3is6.65%, to a maximum of11.1%, which basically get to thestandards for recycling tailings with current economic and technological level. Calculatedon the standard of63%powdered iron feeding into the blast furnace, there are285tonsreserved in Xishimen tailings pond,560tons in the whole researching region, with5.72billion yuan economic value. Besides, the average grade of Cu is0.0134%, S1.68%, Co0.011%; all reach the recyclable grade of iron tailings. The total economic value ofelements in tailings of the whole researching region gets to8.2billion yuan. What’s more, the constructing and other available materials can be reclaimed. The whole region boastsprominent reclamation economic value. With multiple ways to count the analysis results of tailings sample, three groups aredivided: rock-forming element group, ore forming element group and rare earth elementsgroup. This shows that the grouping relationship between elements of tailings and crude ore. Through research on borehole section of tailings, it’s found that with exploitation andsmelting in the mine, the tailings pond has recorded these information and the migratingand evolution features of elements under the environment of supergene geochemistry. Results show that most elements present banding distribution vertically and irregular zigzagspread horizontally. Artificial enrichment ore bodies are also discovered. They concentrateon some horizons and positions in the pond and the influence factors are relatively complexand play an important role to the comprehensive utilization of tailings.Analysis on the mining area samples with multiple target geochemistry ways, themining area and surrounding soil, water and grain crops are all polluted to some extent. TheCd, As, F, S, Se and Cu are all in some degree out of limits, with Cd, As and Cu exceedingobviously in particular. However, the comprehensive study on tailings water, surface waterand shallow groundwater shows that several elements are greatly out of limits in localsections, with the concentration of some element floats on a relatively high level. Thephenomenon is worth more attention. Maize is a major grain crop in Hanxing. Cr exceedsmost seriously and some other environmental elements are out of limits in local parts. These elements which threaten human health directly should be paid enough attention.
