In modern society, with the pressure of shortage of water and power resources inour country, evaporative air coolers have been widely applied in the field ofrefrigeration, petrochemical and so on. Evaporative air coolers have many advantages,such as water-saved,energy conversation, water-saved, compact structure and smallusage of ground area。But the design of the evaporative air cooler in the refrigerationsystem is lack of enough experimental datum and theoretical guidance。This paper analyzed the heat and mass transfer in the evaporative aircoolers.studied the affect of the heat transfer performance of evaporative air cooler onthe experimental apparatus of the refrigeration system with evaporative aircoolers,which the amount of air and water and other parameters caused,developed anexperimental software to handle a large number of experimental data by VC++platform, and sorted out the model of the heat transfer coefficient outside the tube. Themain content of this paper is as follows:(1) The heat and mass transfer process in evaporative fluid coolers arediscussed in this paper based on the internal temperature chart and heat and masstransfer model of evaporative air coolers.(2) The calculation of heat transfer coefficient outside the tube is verycomplex.A new calculation is presented based on the existing theory.The determinationof the heat transfer coefficient outside the tube developed on the basis of lots ofexperiments. It provided engineering applications of evaporative air cooler fortheoretical calculation.(3) Taking using of experimental data under the condition of nine variables,thesignificant factors of the heat transfer coefficient are discussed by stepwise regressionanalysis though SPSS. (4) The affect of the heat transfer performance of evaporative air cooler isdiscussed based on the experimental platform, which the amount of air and water andother parameters caused.It could optimize operating parameters while it put intoengineering application.(5) An experimental software which is called HTCM is developed by VC++platform.It can be used to complete the calculation of a large number of experimentaldata.At the same time the model of the heat transfer coefficient outside the tube issolved.
