Foundry technique design is an important process and a basic component in castingproduction.With the development of computer technology,3D-CAD has been widelyused in various industries. Due to its ocular results, integrity in geometrical informationand convenience in connection with CAE/CAM technology, three-demensional technicalCAD technology has become the tendency.DISA vertical parting and no-box injection molding line has the advantage of goodquality, high automation, so it has a wide use in our country, and has reached greateconomic benefits. DISA gating system has some unified form, but its structure iscomplex, it needs lots of design in modeling and assemblage. Formerly designers need todo typesetting、creating runners and pouring cup all by themselves, which costs them lotsof energy and reduce the production efficiency.This paper analyzes the casting process of DISA line in Shanxi HuaxiangTongchuang casting Co., Ltd. The Gating System of DISA Casting is developed using thesecondary development API interface UG/Open provided by UG and VC++6.0development tools. The CAD system consists of creating parting surface、template、typesetting and sprue as well as sprue cup design. Using this system, designers can importmodel and template, do typesetting without any operatings. At the same time, this systemuses parametric design to design runner and puring cup, which establishes thecorresponding database. Designers can import runners and puring cups by enterparameters. This paper elaborates the design theory and development process of each part.It also shows core aldorithm of runners and theory of parametric design. At last, takingone small scale cast made by ductile cast ion as an example, this program simulated thecasting process of the designed system.The CAD system has been applied in Huaxiang company. The CAD system canaccelerate the speed of technology’s design, specify design process and improveproductivity.
