With the further application of computer technology in the field of foundry industry,there are more and more researchers focusing on integration of the casting process CAD design and the casting process CAE simulation with professional CAD platforms, which contributes to avert the model data transfer between design and analysis software and accelerate the speed of the casting process design. This thesis has some researches of key technologies in casting CAD/CAE integrated system based on UG NX, which use UG NX 8.0 as the support platform and VS2010 as the development tool.First, this thesis elaborates the status of casting CAD/CAE integration technology, and the integration of those three methods were analyzed and compared. The framework of casting CAD/CAE integrated system, which includes the casting process CAD design and the casting process CAE simulation has been constructed.Secondly, this thesis achieves grid meshing based on UG part model and STL file format in the UG platform, to solve the problem of data convergence between CAD and CAE software, so that the CAD model data can be successfully converted to CAE model, and it proposed a method to achieve the visualization of grid meshing results, and the meshing grid can be displayed in the UG NX by this method. And in this CAD/CAE system, it achieved the visualization of casting CAE in UG NX.Then, according to the requirements of sand core in the Shandong Shifeng's project of rapid manufacturing, the function of sand core extraction has been developed, and the principle and implementation process of three kinds of sand extraction has been discussed. Those functions can provide CAD model for rapid manufacturing of sand core, manufacturing efficiency of sand core is improved.Final, this thesis take turbines cover as an example to verify the usefulness of developed functions in casting integrated CAD/CAE system.
