In the production of modern industry, the plastic injection is one of the fastest andmost effective way to produce plastic products, and the cooling system of injectionmold had great influence on the injection molding cycle and the final quality of theproducts. With the requirements of global market to improve the quality of plasticproducts, more and more researchers and enterprises draw attentions to how to reduceinjection molding cycle and improve the dimensional accuracy of the products. In thetraditional cooling system, the cooling channel is linear, and in the conformal coolingsystem, the cooling channel is curve with high cooling efficiency and coolinguniformity. However, due to the lack of systematic theoretical design and optimizationmethods, the design and optimal of conformal cooling channels are still by usingtraditional design methods, this will lead to the low efficiency of the engineering staffand the actual results of the design can not be optimized state. This has become aproblem to hinder the application of the conformal cooling technology.This paper introduced a brief analysis of the impact factor of heat transfer processin the injection molding, deduced the heat balance equation of mold cooling process,analyzed the evenness of the main factors which influence the efficiency of moldcooling, proposed the method to improve the uniformity and efficiency of the moldcooling.(1)According to the characteristics of the injection mold cooling system and thetraditional cooling channel design rules, established a set of conformal cooling channelsoptimal design methods. The methods consider the mold cooling uniformity andmolding cycle as a target, based on Moldflow analysis, response surface methodologyand particle swarm optimization algorithm. It achieved the optimal design of conformalcooling channels. And as a result, the cooling uniformity and dimensional accuracy ofthe product are also improved.(2) This paper studied the process of parting manufacturing method of theconformal cooling channels, it also theoretical analysis of the strength of the the typingmanufacturing mold cavity, and the balance of cost and production efficiency, and toprove its workability and sealing performance in conventional steel mold manufacturingfeasibility of conformal cooling channels.(3)Studying the process of parting manufacturing method for Conformal coolingchannels, theoretical analysising the strength of parting manufacturing mold and thebalance of costs and productivity issues, then according to the research of itsworkability and sealing performance, proving that the feasibility of manufactureingconformal cooling channels in conventional steel mold.(4) According to a certain products for simulation, the cooling time of theproducts increased by about30%, the amount of warpage is only60%of the traditionalcooling channels. Then Manufacturing the two sets of molds of traditional coolingchannels and conformal cooling channels, compared with different process parametersand products warpage. In the end, using experimental method to validate the superiorityof conformal cooling channels.
