With the increasing requirements for automotive lightweight and safety in the market,the automobile aluminum ratio has been improved. As a key component of an automobile,automobile hub use the aluminum alloy at early time, to achieve a number of comfortable,lightweight and appearance requirements. Low pressure casting method is one of the mainproductions of aluminum alloy wheel, the utilization rate of metal is more than80%and iseasy to realize the mechanization and automation, which has obvious advantagescompared with the traditional casting method. Therefore, it is one of the developmentdirections of casting.In this paper, using the finite element software to simulation analysis the process oflow pressure die casting for aluminum alloy wheel hub, and the character of temperaturefield and solidification process of the aluminum alloy wheel hub of the filling process wasstudied, in order to optimize the parameters of aluminum alloy wheel low pressure diecasting process, to solve the casting defects appear frequently in the actual production ofaluminum alloy wheel hub. The concrete research content and conclusions are as follows:(1) Analysis the heat transfer characteristics of aluminum alloy liquid duringsolidification in process of aluminum alloy wheel low pressure casting, established thesolidification temperature field differential equation--nonlinear transient heat transferdifferential equation, and according to the actual production situation determined the heattransfer boundary conditions and the physical parameters of aluminum alloy materials;(2) Establishment of a three-dimensional model of the aluminum alloy wheels withUG software, and has carried on the mold design, got the three-dimensional model ofwheel and mould, And imported into the finite element analysis software ANSYS toestablish the finite element model for the aluminum alloy wheel hub;(3) Nonlinear transient temperature field analysis and computer simulation have beencarried out with ANSYS thermal analysis function. The results showed tha‘tisolated islanddefects’ was founded in the middle of wheel rim and the spokes;(4) Optimize the alloy wheel low pressure casting process by using the comprehensive experiment method. And Select two factors (pouring temperature andspeed of filling mold), which have a great influence in the filling process during of hubcasting as optimization parameters. the simulation showed the best casting aluminum alloywheel low pressure casting temperature is700℃, the best compression rate is0.0016MPa/s, under the parameters of aluminum alloy wheel hub casting quality is better.
