With the development of china’s social and economical civilization, the socialpressure is increasing, Chinese people concern about their health increasingly, fitness hasbecome a new fashion of exercise. At the same time, humanized design concept hasbecome more and more important, and products should not only pay attention to practicalbut also to the appearance of people’s emotional needs. Sensibility is a psychologicalfeeling for the product through the different organs, and it is unmeasured andunquantifiable. The research is inaccurate because of the subjectivity of the researchersduring the study period. In recent years, with the development and interpenetrate ofvarious disciplines, sensibility quantization have evolved by some scientific means. Thisemerging technology is called Kansei Engineering in Japan and widely used worldwide.This paper is based on the sensibility quantization which is the basic idea of KanseiEngineering, and it uses the orthogonal experiment method that is used frequently byphysical chemistry and other disciplines to research the university students population’ssensibility needs for exercise bike. First, we can use a variety of survey methods tocollect and filter the fitness vocabulary about the exercise bike, and then, resolve thedesign elements of exercise bike, pick out products material pictures with the orthogonaltest method, and make questionnaire to investigate, with extremely poor law to concludeand instruct the design of exercise bike. Finally, we can evaluate and analysis theresulting design with analytic hierarchy process to furtherly validate the conclusionsthrough the orthogonal test.The results show that the orthogonal experiment and AHP has a certain extent in theapplied research of the exercise bike’s sensibility needs’ innovative design, and thepaper has a positive effect on Kansei Engineering applying to the later research ofproduct development.
