With the quickening pace of work in modern society,people pay more and more attention to physical health.Exercise bike is a kind of effective fitness equipment,but exercising for a period of time will be boring.Virtual reality(Virtual Reality,VR)technology is a rapidly developing science and technology since the new century,combining software programming with hardware equipment,and giving a real sense of reality,and relieving the boring sense of fitness and exercise.It is of important commercial value to combine the virtual reality technology and the exercise bike based on this,which can eliminate the boring feeling of fitness workers,achieve the requisite exercise time and intensity of exercise,so as to achieve the effect of exercising with single car.This paper provides a design of an exercise bike system based on virtual reality technology,including:1.Design the hardware of the VR exercise bike with motion sense,including the resistance mechanism and the fan mechanism.The resistance mechanism simulates the change of riding road slope,and the fan mechanism simulates riding speed.2.Design the VR exercise bike system program based on STM32 MCU,including the speed measuring program,the fan mechanism control program,the resistance mechanism control program,and the USBHID communication program.3.Design the scene of the VR exercise bike system based on Unity3D.Design the scene interface according to the principles of reducing VR cybersickness,including texture mapping,moving speed of scene,angle of view and so on.Design the scene control program,including the process of linking VR HMD,the communication of scenes,the movement of scenes and interactive flow of data between scripts.4.Use the designed VR exercise bike to investigate and test.In order to understand the interest of the exercisers in this design,an experimental investigation is carried out.At the same time,in order to test the influencing factors and the main symptoms and sequence of cybersickness,an experimental test is designed.The experimental investigation finds that the designed VR bike can improve the exercise interest of the exercisers.The experimental test is divided into two experiments:in the first experiment,9 men and 5 women are selected to test that whether virtual movement and real movement be consistent or not affects the virtual reality cybersickness.The results show inconsistency between virtual movement and real movement is more likely to produce cybersickness.Meanwhile,it is also proved that girls are more likely to have cybersickness than boys in the experiment of consistency between virtual movement and real movement.6 men and 6 women are chosen for the experiment of consistency between virtual movement and real movement,and record the appearance of main symptoms and the corresponding time.Statistical results show that the sequence of the main symptoms of cybersickness induced by virtual reality are feeling of fullness in the head,blurred vision,dizziness,vertigo,nausea or visual fatigue.The VR exercise bike can improve the interest of fitness workers and prolong their exercise time,and the cybersickness test results can provide reference for VR technology research.
