Fine blanking is an advanced manufacturing technology based on general blanking, which is widely used in industrial production because of its high efficiency, high quality andlow consumption. Fine blanking is a complicated dynamics process, which contains elasticdeformation, plastic deformation and ductile fracture. In order to increase productivity, decline the labor intensity, and reduce the production cost, the fine blanking processes need torealize producing automation. The reliable mold protection and the safety of equipment areprerequisite for automated. Therefore, the studying results about the mold protection of fineblanking in this dissertation have some theoretic meaning and practical value.Firstly, the research reviews the process of the fine blanking and the research situationabout fine blanking automation both at home and abroad. Based on analyzing thedevelopment of the fine blanking automation in China and the objective requirement of thefine blanking production process, the three-dimensional model of fine-blanking mold andsimplistic finite element model are established in this dissertation about a kind of car cardboard fine-blanking part and its fine blanking tools. Secondly, the Deform-3D software isused to analyze the theoretic dynamic curve about main cutting force, blank holder force andback pressure under varying operation conditions about fine-blanking after the finite elementanalysis which lays the groundwork for the development of mold protection arithmetic.Thirdly, a kind of mold protection strategies and arithmetic based on working status analysisdesigned for fine-blanking automation are studied in order to offer a practical guide to moldprotection. Finally, the mold stress analysis module of Deform-3D is used to estimate thelifetime of the fine blanking punch and dies by simulating the stress-strain in punch and diethough reverse interpolation. This method can realize the on-line assessment of die life andlaid a theoretical foundation about increasing overall life of mold. The research results indicate that it can represent the real deformation process of the fineblanking sheet and the force of the dies by using the finite element dynamic simulationmethods. A new solution has brought out in this dissertation in order to realize the fine blanking tools protection and the fine blanking equipment security and life span estimation ofthe fine blanking tooling. All of the researching results have established the theoreticfoundation to realize the automation of fine blanking production.
