Sand compaction rate was not only the necessary project but also thepreferred one to control the sand property when we produced in wet mold casting.There were so many steps in traditional test of molding sand compaction ratewhich contained the remote sampling, sieved, quantification, shock, measuring,calculating, and so on, the processes above consumed long time and theoperations were very complicate. Generally only tested in the laboratorymeasurement of molding sand compaction rate怂The whole process takes a longtime. So this method can not meet the fast and accurate measurement of theproduction process in order to meet on-site guidance.An instrument with the properties of easy to carry, simply to operate and fastto read as the study goals which was based on the analysis and researches of thetraditional methods-impact experiment when measure the compaction rate.Ensure the accuracy of the test was as a premise. A new portable and smartmolding sand compaction rate automatic detection device was developed in thiswork.The device used the method of secondary pressurized, dynamicdetermination of the amount of sand-like deformation to achieve the rapiddetection sand compaction rate of the wet-type clay. The first pressure was toensure the molding sand with a uniform compaction, exerted pressure again tomake the molding sand compaction enough, and then the measured value wascalculated according to the formula. The sample preparation institutions weredesigned with the spring, indenter, the force transmission mechanism, barrel andsensor.The device used the STC89C52Model ultralow power microcontroller as the processor and the display was1602LCD, and the data collection was completed through the low power consumption peripheral circuit.Through C programming language of Microcontroller, the device processed and calculated the signal received by the the microcontroller which transmittedby the displacement sensor. This design not only ensured the accuracy of the datacollected but also the accuracy of the test results.The experimental results exhibited that the sand compaction rate detectiondevice in this work has achieved the goals of detection speed, easy to carry,flexible to operate, also with high accuracy and repeatability.
