In the course of working in the web-fed press, the tension control from roll toroll is essential. If the tension control is inappropriate, it may cause coil foldingand deformation, thus affecting the print quality, and resulting in waste of thecoiled material. Tension control system is a time-varying nonlinear system, and ithas the characteristics of variable parameters, variable load, and strongdisturbance etc. It is widely applied in actual industrial production processes invarious fields.The difficulties of tension control are primarily the following three points: first,to compensate for the external disturbances and the resistance generated by theoperation of the system; second, to solve the problem of coupling betweentension and velocity; third, to calculate and adjust the time-varying parameterssuch as the coil diameter.In this paper, it designs a tension control system based on Siemens MotionController (SIMOTION) by analyzing the characteristics of web press work.Targeting at the characteristics of the system, it sets up an experimental platform,builds a mathematical model of tension control system, and finally concludes ananalysis of the experimental results. The main content is summarized as thefollowing:(1) Building a mathematical model: Targeting at the characteristics of webpress workand the variation of web presses tape tension, it completesmathematical modeling of the entire tension system, and presents a controlstrategy which is a double-loop tension control that composed of tensile ring andspeed loop.(2) Setting up an experimental platform of tension control system: It designsand builds an experimental platform of the reel-to-reel tension control system,SIMOTION motion controller as its control center. (3)Software Development: It takes modular processing of the mathematicalmodel of tension control system, and it is encapsulated to achieve in SCOUTsoftware programming environment with ST, MCC and other programminglanguages. It completes the development of PC and the controller application aswell.(4)Experimental Analysis: It conducts experiments on the systemperformance test platform, and gives the experimental results. It was validatedalgorithms of the system,and gives the analysis and evaluation of the wholesystem.
