With the development of science and technology, high-precision micro scale products in many fields, including aerospace, defense, biotechnology, MEMS, were in growing demand. In term of product development, the miniaturization of products possess many advantages range from high quality, small size, low power consumption, low consumption of resources to beautiful and sophisticated ease of use. Miniaturization is an important direction for product development.In the field of micro scale machining, micro milling developed rapidly. However, micro-machining is generally inside the grains, many characters such as the size effect, microscopic shape of the error of the tiny tool, tool wear and adhesion of workpiece material, workpiece a series of characteristics of the metal anisotropy of polycrystalline materials, which make micro-milling of the work piece surface quality relatively poor. Taking into account the quality of the workpiece surface after grinding was higher in the traditional processing, more and more micro-mechanical studies have tended to explore the micro-grinding in recent years. This factor generated the micro scale grinding process.The article carried on pioneering exploratory research in micro scale grinding processing, mainly focused on the tiny electroplated diamond grinding rods preparation process and synthetic abrasive surface topography detection methods.The first topic of the project is an analysis, which is about several preparation methods of micro scale grinding rods. Then the advantages and disadvantages of different methods of preparation are compared. On this basis, the specific preparation process of plating micro-mill bar was discussed, which mainly includes pre-plated, on the sand, thickening process and so on. In addition, the experiments of preparation of different grain size of electroplated diamond grinding rod gave the first-hand information, and by the way the grinding rod morphology was compared. Another topic focuses on the grinding rod surface detection methods. The Fragment information was considered as the as the main assessment basis of the surface tribological behavior. Among those detection methods at this stage, on the one hand, there is a serious optical distortion phenomenon in the two-dimensional image acquisition microscope, and the two-dimensional image of the abrasive cannot accurately obtain the three-dimensional morphology of the abrasive surface of the analysis of surface texture error. On the other hand, the atomic force microscope and other high-tech equipment is much too expensive, poor adaptability, and image matching calculation difficulties exist in the three-dimensional measurement of research abrasive. These factors limit the promotion and application of these methods in the diagnosis of engineering. The design of a unique set of programs, using three-dimensional image reconstruction technique based on stereo vision, the initial realization of the three-dimensional measurement of the abrasive information in an ordinary optical microscope.Finally, conclusions are drawn and some problems in experiment are illustrated. Some recommendations for future are provided.
