Study On Material Selection Of Plastic Molded Parts In Product Design

Material selection of plastic molded parts is an important link in product design andproduction process, therefore how to select an appropriate material is a key relevant toproduct appearance, molding processing, cost, etc. As plastic materials are utilizedmore and more widely, reasonable application of plastic materials contributes toextend the space of product design. Modern industrial products have higher andhigher requirements on performance for materials, and the requirement forappropriate materials in product design becomes higher and higher.However, it is noteasy to select a plastic variety suitable for a molding part to be processed from a widerange of plastic materials. At present, for industrial designers use plastic materialsinformation and tools are limited, even if there is not convenient for designers to use,thereby limiting the designers in the process of plastic product selection accuracy andefficiency. This paper aims to plastic properties, processing technology and the use ofthe environment foundation, summarized the general procedure of plastic materials,and then get a consistent with industrial designer assistant selection tool, and is alsosuitable for other persons using plastic.The main contribution of this study is reflected in the following respects:1. In the investigation and literature research foundation, to plastic and itsapplication in industrial product undertook combing, describes the plastic andproducts and product design, the product used in plastic parts of the shape, structureand forming method undertook combing.2. Sums up the characteristics and application field of plastic, used to makeplastic according to use frequency ranking, in the product caused by plastic damage ofvarious factors were more thorough research, put forward the main factors causing theplastic failure is the improper material selection. 3. According to the matching principle of present industrial products plastic partsselection procedures, and all kinds of plastic for forming various forms of plastic partsin tabular form, as the plastic material to provide a more convenient tool.4. In studies was constructed based on the purpose of computer aided materialdatabase, and based on the database of software interface design, realization ofcomputer aided selection of plastic parts.5. In the lighting design process in the application of the selection procedure for thedetermination of the lampshade material proved the validity and feasibility of thestudy results.
