Aiming at the high consumption of energy sources and heavy pollution in cement production process, comprehensive evaluation and analysis of cement production process has become a key research topic nowadays. Taking the10000t/d cement clinker production system as an example, exergy analysis and universal exergy analysis method were applied in the comprehensive evaluation and analysis of the cement clinker production process.The cement clinker production process is divided into three parts, namely, pre-decomposition、rotary kiln and grate cooler. The heat balance analysis for each part is carried out, the result shows that the clinker formation heat is1724.2MJ, and the total thermal efficiency is51.17%.The exergy balance model is established on the foundation of second law of thermodynamics, the exergy use and loss is revealed by exergy analysis, some methods for improving energy efficiency and reducing energy losses were put forward.The universal exergy of the system was calculated and analyzed, the result shows that the universal exergy of the raw materials and energy accounts for77.04%of the total universal exergy. the utilization coefficient of universal exergy and the sustainable development index is36.66%and0.4692respectively, compared with the sustainable development index of the SKS lead smelting system and solar photovoltaic power generation system, the result shows the sustainable development index of the cement clinker production system was in a middle level.As a industrial production system with natural resource dominating its resource structure, taking measures to reduce the material resource consumption, especially the energy exergy consumption, is an important approach to realize the comprehensive energy-saving and improve the systematic sustainable development. Strengthening heat transfer, making full use of the heat resource of hypothermia waste gas can be adopted to reduce the exergy loss and improve the common exergy efficiency.
