To enable the designer to know more about the traditional paper-cut culture, based on the previous research, using literature, data, image analysis, design and implementation, this paper traces back and analyzes the application of paper-cut stencil art in the design of modern women’s dress, induces different features like shape, color, pattern and technology presented in the design of women’s dress, summarizes one-sidedness in the application of modern women’s dress, and put forward innovative suggestions. At the same time, the author would like to use carved hollow window as the starting point to practice designing women’s dress.We hope that through the detailed study of the traditional Chinese paper-cut content and paper-cut stencil art application status in the modern women in China, the designer can further understand the essence of Chinese traditional cultures, get rid of blind imitation of the Western culture, be familiar with the essence of Chinese traditional culture.
