As a special processing technique, Electrical Melting and Explosion (EME) Technology is a kind of working process which erodes workpiece with the principle of low voltage and high current producing high temperatures. Comparing with other special processing, EME has obvious advantages in the machining efficiency, energy saving and simple structure. EME is widely applied in the fields of agricultural machinery, railway, electricity and other fields. Pre-EME industrialization is mainly based on research, but some key technologies have not been completely resolved. In order to adapt to the industrialization, EME and other related technology need to be studied.This paper focuses on temperature field, thermal stress field, the design of the servo feed system and the corresponding aspects. Details are as follows:(1) Temperature field of workpiece being processed is studied. A basic equation of the temperature field of the workpiece is established based on variation principle which could estimate its parameters, the efficiency of erosion, loss of the tool electrode, the surface roughness and so on. Meanwhile, the temperature field of workpiece is analyzed with ANSYS software. Due to the use of high pressure water pump for cooling, the temperature range is rather weak to spread around. Temperature transfers mainly from the radial direction of workpiece. The thermal stress has weak effect on the workpiece surface, so there is no need to consider the effect of remanent stress. (2) It puts forwards a layer and stage process method in deep hole working to improve the working accuracy of Electrical Melting and Explosion, which means it to take the layer and stage of push boring processing in rough finishing and the layer and stage of pull boring process in fine finishing.(3) It designs primary servo feeding system, which chooses the suitable ball screw and motor according to the characteristic of Electric Melting and Explosion. It checks out the system accuracy.
