Road headers are being widely applied in the coal mine exploration, tunnels, underground and bridge construction, playing a vital role in the modern industry. Road headers break the huge rocks by converting mechanical energy, in contrast to the previous drilling and blasting method. Thus they are popularized for the advantages of economy, safety, high speed and good quality. Nowadays countries around the world are devoting to develop road headers and have made remarkable achievements. China started the research and development later than the overseas, but has made great progress through the constant introduction of the advanced technology from abroad.The type EBZ260H is a longitudinal road header and is being widely used in the coal mine exploration. The power and torque of its cutting head are transmitted by two-level of involute planetary reducer,the function and structure of which will influence the performance, volume and structure of the road header directly. Therefore, the reducer in the cutting head is of great importance. But in the actual working field, the huge impact load causes the pitting and gluing of the gear in the reducer, making the gear invalid and reducing the working life to less than8000hours. When the reducer in the cutting head becomes invalid, the cutting head is supposed to elevate to the upper side of the coal mine for maintenance, affecting the working efficiency of the road header negatively.After investigation and analysis, the main reason for the failure of the pitting and gluing of the involute profile is the reduction of the gear surface contact fatigue strength and lack of gear lubrication. Double circular arc gear tooth surface has got high flexural strength and contact strength, easily forming oil layer and fine running-in. In this thesis, the subject is double circular arc gear instead of involute profile. By making force analysis of the reducer, the configuration parameter of the reducer will be calculated and the design of the sliding bearing will be completed. Meanwhile, this thesis also aims to complete finite element analysis of the double circular tooth gear and planet wheel bearing in the reducer. Development of the double circular arc tooth planetary reducer and improvement of the gear lubrication system in the reducer are included, solving the problem of gear failure in operation effectively.The new double circular arc tooth planetary reducer is prior to the involute planetary reducer, providing basic design material for the research and development of related corporations.
