With the quick development of our enterprises in the recently years, people have more and more requirements for the grinding technique used in producing some small-sized thin parts in a project. Traditional CNC grinding machines are too large compared with the size of the parts which are processed by the machines. And the power and material consumptions are nearly proportional to the volume of the machine. Therefore, in some way, the big machine whose size is too large relative to the size of the parts processed will give rise to the waste of energy, space and resource. At present, we use conventional big and medium-sized grinding machines in the grinding and cutting process, during which we have to design special fixtures for the small-sized parts under processing. In the mean time, as a result of the big ratio between the size of the machine and the part, it is difficult to guarantee the precision of processing. So the cost of the parts and components processed is very high and the processing period is very long, which cannot meet the manufacturing schedule requirements at all.Based on the technique characteristics of the company and by making full use of the CNC manufacturing advantages in the company, we have developed a kind of small-sized precision equipment which is called the Miniature CNC Grinding Machine in this paper. It adopts the overall steel structure for its exterior side. All the components are assembled together highly precisely coordinated to each other. It uses the tiny stepping motor for power supply and uses the linear guide rail and the tiny ball screw shaft for power transmission. It adopts the three-axis or four-axis tiny controller to control the machine so as to realize the manufacturing precision of the parts under processing. The spindle diameter jumping accuracy is less than0.01mm. The repeatability positioning accuracy is less than0.005mm. The overall dimension is 46×25×27cm. Because of its low energy consuming, it is driven only by lower power motor.
