It’s significance to increase the destructive ability of penetration weapon by studying of the resistance to acceleration overload of slapper detonators when projectile penetrating into various types of medium. At present, the experimental research has its own advantages and disadvantages, and the numerical simulation is also at the overall level. In this paper, the FEM software LS-DYNA was used to in-depth study the overload characteristics of slapper detonator at the device level when the projectile impacts steel targets and concrete targets under different landing speed, and then the air gun experiment was used to verify the results of numerical simulation, finally the overload characteristics of slapper detonators in the process of deep penetration was simulated.A in-depth FEM simulation of the slapper detonators at the device level was studied, Mainly on the meshing method of each component, material constitutive models and ma-terial parameters, contact settings and so on, when the projectiles impact different Target (steel target and Concrete Target) in the FEM model. It has studied on the overload time and acceleration peak of the projectiles, the stress and strain of slapper detonator on the various components in the space distribution, the damage characteristics of the components which was easily failure(such as electrode plug, substrate and Accelerating chamber) before and after reinforcement, and the internal energy absorption curve of different reinforced gasket.The acceleration overload curve and penetration depth of the projectiles in the deep penetration process was studied, and the acceleration overload curve of the tail, middle and head elements from the projectile was found out. According to the acceleration curves of the three elements, transformed them into force curves loading on slapper detonator in deep penetration process, a further study was taken on the overload characteristics of slapper de-tonators in the process of deep penetration.The overload characteristics of slapper detonator at the device level was studied by the LS-DYNA FEM software, which provided an effective theoretical reference for FEM si-mulation of initiating explosive device.
