With the rapid development of industry, the industrial wastewater has become oneof the major sources of environmental pollution. So it is very significant that the sugarrefining wastewater is treated effectively as an important part of industrial wastewater.At present, there are only a few reports about the sugar refining wastewater treatment.The research of this kind of wastewater treatment has an important significance in thisbackground. In recent years, the ordinary IC reactor was studied and applied to theengineering practice, but there are still some problems. In order to overcome theproblems of the ordinary IC reactor, the additional circulating IC reactor was used totreat the sugar refining wastewater in this experiment. Therefore, the main purpose ofthis study is how to give full play to the function of the additional circulating IC reactorin the sugar refining wastewater treatment.This experiment studied the influence of the running state of the additionalcirculating IC reactor, which was aroused by influent COD concentration, volumetricloading, pH, etc. In addition, it also studied the adaptive and processing capacity of thereactor in this kind of wastewater treatment. After the on-site experimental research of60days, some goals were achieved basically. Through the analysis of the test data, themain conclusions are as follows:1. Under the conditions of high COD concentration and low load, the reactor couldstart up quickly within20days. During this period, the volumetric loading was1~2kgCOD/(m~3d), the effluent concentrations of COD and VFA were158~1055mg/Land108~404mg/L, the removal rate of COD was more than89.1%. At the same time,discontinuous internal circulation appeared in the reactor.2. The operation status of the reactor was still good when all the500m~3/dwastewater was injected into the additional circulating IC reactor under the condition ofthe malnutrition. It was feasible to use the additional circulating IC reactor to treat thiskind of wastewater. Without extra-nutrition, the volumetric loading can reach5kgCOD/(m~3d) and the effluent quality was stable. The effluent COD concentrationwas about1800mg/L and the removal rate of COD was82%or so. 3. The reactor had a certain ability in denitrification. The research showed that theremoval rate of ammonia nitrogen was0.8%~22.8%in the stage of increasing CODload and18.8%~25.9%in the stable stage.4. The result showed that the change of effluent VFA concentration was moresensitive than pH, and the former can better reflect the actual running state of the reactor.Therefore, it was reliable to use the effluent VFA concentration instead of the pH toindicate the running state of the reactor.5. This study obtained the design parameters of the additional circulating ICreactor in the field of the sugar refining wastewater treatment and also provided sometechnical guidance and reference for such wastewater treatment.
