With the rapid consumption of non-renewable resources, Energy crisis is threating the survival and development of mankind.Environmental pollution from burning fossil fuels, have attracted attention. How to solve the energy problem and protect the environment, has led to the exploration of alternatives for fossil resources to supply chemicals and energy. At prerent, biomass have attracted more attention, which is the most aboundant renewable carbon source in the world and distributed widely in nature.Conversion from cellulose to5-hydroxymethyl-furaldehyde (5-HMF) and furfural is one of effective way of the use of biomassenergy.5-HMF and furfural can be used to synthesize kinds of new compounds, both of them are important chemical intermediates. With the development of science and technology, biomass will provide important energy in the future.Firstly, in this paper,5-HMF and furfural were catalytic prepared using the microcrystalline cellulose as raw material, select one of the most appropriate ionic liquid ([BMIM] Cl) dissolving cellulose from three kinds of ionic liquids. The effective of catalyst amount, reaction temperature, reaction time and ratio of material on5-HMF and furfural yield were studied. The experimental results showed that the optimum conditions were as follows:n(catalyst):n(microcrystalline cellulose)^6:100, m(microcrystalline cellulose):m(ionic liquid)=10:1, the reaction time of3h at140℃.Under the above conditions, the yields of5-HMF and furfural respectively were26.6%and6.12%respectively.Secondly,5-HMF and furfural were catalytic also prepared using the nanocrystalline cellulose as raw material, ionic liquid ([BMIM] Cl) as solvent. The effects of catalyst amount, reaction temperature, reaction time and ratio of material on5-HMF and furfural yield were studied. The experimental results showed that the optimum conditions were as follows:n(catalyst):n(nanocrystalline cellulose)=6:100, m(nanocrystalline cellulose):m(ionic liquid)=10:1.25, the reaction time of2h at140℃.Under the above conditions, the yields of5-HMF and furfural respectively were28.3%and6.64%respectively.Finally, reaction kinetics of cellulose catalyzed Preparation of5-HMF were studied. The experimental results showed that cellulose hydrolysis rate constants K1=0.0159min-1, conversion of glucose to5-HMF furfural rate constant K2=0.0006min-1at160℃. K1=0.0195min-1,K2=0.0012min-1at170℃. The activation energy of hydrolysis of cellulose to glucose E1=32.548KJ/(mol-K), activation energy of conversion of glucose to5-HMF E2=110.542KJ/(mol·K),E11>E2,that is to said that it is more easier the reaction of hydrolysis of cellulose to glucose, but the reaction of glucose to5-HMF is more harder.
