Electric Arc Furnace is very important equipment in steelmaking process, and is widely used in metallurgy field. Short net is an important part of Electric Arc Furnace, including electrode, conductive cross arm, water-cooling connecting cable, etc. When Electric Arc Furnace is on work, the current in short net will be very high even to100thousands ampere. Therefore, short net of the Electric Arc Furnace should be designed as small as possible. If the design of Electric Arc Furnace short net is irrational, there will be serious power loss. At the same time, if the impedance of short net conductor is difference, power excursion phenomenon will happen. Power excursion phenomenon is quite harmful to Electric Arc Furnace like damaging the furnace wall, shortening the useful life of steel laddle.Nowadays, in the design of high power Electric Arc Furnace people have figured out many methods trying to reduce the unbalance of three-phase conductors.Generally, it is preferred to design three-phase conductors as triangle structure. Now that we design three-phase conductors as triangle structure, which distance is reasonable and optimal? Is there exist an optimized distance? These are the problems I try to solve in this paper.Through consulting a large number of domestic and foreign relevant papers, I have researched the calculation method of short net impedance and unbalance of short net impedance for three-phase conductors. As we know there are many factors influencing the impedance of short net including direct current resistance; skin effect of conductors; proximity effect of conductors; intervention resistance of conductors. This paper has deduced the calculation methods of proximity effect for cylindrical conductor, pipe conductor and square hollow conductor. This paper has deduced the calculation methods of intervention resistance for graphite electrode and conductive cross arm.This paper has deduced the calculation methods of short net reactance. According to the calculation method of resistance and reactance, I have deduced the relationship between impedance and structure of three-phase conductors, also the relationship between the unbalance of three-phase conductors and structure of three-phase conductors. Through the optimization calculation I have found out that there exist an optimized distance in three-phase electrodes and cross arm.
