The emulsion explosive which is produced by the sensitization of the oil in wateremulsion is a new type of industrial explosive contained water. It is spread in the blastingfield because of the advantages of the fine detonation properties,the simple productiontechnology, the characteristic of the good waterproof performance. The technology ofcontinuous production and spot hybrid became a new developing trend in blasting industry.The temperature difference between emulsion process(90℃~140℃) and sensitizingprocess(50℃~60℃) hindered continuous production. This study of reducing emulsifyingtemperature will be conducive to simplifying process, reducing energy consumption,improving safety of production process, expediting sensitization, research of continuousproduction of emulsion explosives.It was researched in this paper such as the factors affecting the temperature of emulsionprocess and the stability of explosives, the methods to decrease the emulsification temperatureand enhance stability of explosives through experiments which was based on the emulsionforming-stability theory and explosive production principle. By changing the compositionproportion and adding additives to reduce the crystallization point of water-phase in order toachieve goals to reduce emulsifying temperature. The paper optimizes the compositionproportion and the technological conditions through the BKW mathematical model and theorthogonal test. Ultimately the low temperature emulsion explosive formulation containing14%~16%water was determined. The emulsifying temperature was lowered to65℃. It achievessuccess to reduce emulsifying temperature.Experimental studies have shown that the choice of emulsifying temperature depends onthe crystallization point of water-phase. The composition proportion and the technologicalconditions also have a greater impact on performance of the emulsion explosive. The achievement of this paper is useful to the study of emulsion explosive emulsified at lowtemperature.
