| With the flourishing development of the Marine Shipping Industry, there’s been a big increase in the size of the merchant fleet. In recent years more and more companies choose this economical means of transport to transport cargo. Among the cargo, there’re a mountain of virulent and harmful chemical products, and lots of grains, such as rice and so on. A series of chemical and physical changes will happen to the grains in transit. So many toxic or harmful gases will be produced, and if it’s not regulated properly, which will presents great danger to the safety of ships, cargoes and the crew on board. So the monitoring to the concentration of the poisonous and detrimental gas in confined spaces of the cargo ships efficiently and timely, which has spurred the development of the gas detective and alarm system.This article takes the embedded technique, signal processing techniques, digital circuit technique, analogy circuit technique and some related electronic technique. The main function of the toxic or harmful gases detector and alarm, which is based on ARM9is to test the concentration of toxic or harmful gases in air in time, and to display the concentration of the toxic or harmful gases on LCD. While the concentration of the toxic or harmful gases is over alarm threshold, or there’s someone who triggered the alarm button, the toxic or harmful gases detector and alarm system will send alarm signal.Two design aspects are mainly included in my thesis:the hardware design respect and the software design respect. In the part of hardware designing, I choose the microprocessor of S3C2440which is produced by Samsung as its kernel processor, and also contain power circuit, reset circuit, clock circuit, detection circuit, display circuit, driving circuit and so on. In the part of software designing, we choose The Linux operating system as platform. We designed the human-machine interaction of monitoring system with Qt. We also programming some control logic, combined with defined protocol.The toxic or harmful gases detector and alarm system based on ARM has many other advantages, such as low cost, high reliability, flexible, beautiful screen. It can connect to the network monitoring system for ships expediently, and sharing of data across the ship. It also offers safety assurances for the ship and the crew on board. |
