Compared with ordinary honing,ultrasonic vibration honing take advantages of smallcutting force,low cutting temperature,high cutting precision,long tool life,easily handingof chip,etc. Ordinary ultrasonic vibration honing mainly focus on the inner surface quality ofcylindrical,but in practical industrial applications,the quality of the outer surface of thecylinder also greatly affect the scope and lifetime of components using. This paper analyzedthe researching status,developed the outer cylindrical ultrasonic vibration honing device,andused the stainless steel as the workpiece pilot to experimental study. At the same time,considering the particularity of machining,designed a reasonable honing clamping tool,proposed a lubrication for the study. This paper mainly complete following contents:(1)Analyzed the vibration form of the outer cylindrical ultrasonic vibration honingbased on the vibration and moving feature of ordinary ultrasonic vibration honing. To choosesingle abrasive as study goal,established the coupled flutter model of a single abrasive inhoning process,transformed the physical model into a mathematical model,obtained themath equation,analyzed the coupled flutter stability using this equation.(2)Take M4215honing machine as the condition,designed the key components of theouter cylindrical ultrasonic vibration honing. In this paper,designed the key componentsusing piezoelectric equivalent circuit method,between ultrasound transducer,horn andbending vibration disc,obtained piezoelectric equivalent circuit diagram of the componentsand the equivalent impedance,finally,took the integration of design,through the relationshipbetween the equivalent circuit integration to calculate the size of the key components ofdesign.(3)Through the key components of design,obtained the outer cylindrical ultrasonic vibration honing device; analyzed the workpiece fixing of honing according to the apparatus,the shape and size of the workpiece,and the actual processing conditions,designed areasonable and feasible honing fixture; combined the actual processing conditions and themovement of the processing unit,proposed a real-time lubrication for processing zones.(4)Experimented the honing parameters using the device,include the rotational speedof the honing head body,the reciprocating speed of,and the depth,then analyzed the results.
