The steel curve cut is the previous process for variable cross-section roll bending to certain shape, and the width-adjustable disc cutter can cut curve on steel, so it has practical meaning to research the width-adjustable disc cutter. Basing on the assumption condition that the width-adjustable disc cutter can cut high-strength steel exactly, this paper target on the width-adjustable disc cutter and do below:(1) Build kinematic constraint equation by analyzing the kinematic theoretical basis on the variable width disk shearing machine.(2) Established the three-dimensional modeling of the variable width disk shears machine in Pro/E, then import it to the ADAMS software, carries on the kinematics simulation of multi rigid body on the variable width disk shearing machine model, and add load to carry on the dynamics simulation of multi rigid body on the basis of it. Then we get the change rules about displacement, velocity, acceleration, shear force and moment in the point of shear, finally analyze the shear trajectory about kinematics simulation and dynamics simulation, and then compared with the theoretical results.(3) Using the Ansys software for the flexible grid on plate and drive shaft three-dimensional entity model, which set up by Pro/E, add a contact force in ADAMS software, then using the contact force to simulate shear stress for the rigid flexible coupling dynamic simulation about shearing machine, then we can get the situation of stress in all directions of the shear point under the shear press and the change rules about shear force under the different thickness of the plate, finally we analyze the shear trajectory under rigid flexible coupling dynamics simulation, then compared with the theoretical results.The results shows that:the motion curve under dynamic simulation has certain wave compare to that under the kinematic simulation, the shear trajectory under rigid flexible coupling dynamics simulation is closer than the rigid body simulation to the given condition; then we analyze the reason why the dynamics, rigid flexible coupling dynamic simulation shear trajectory can produce fluctuate. The results will provide reference about the further optimization and the design on control system for the structure of the variable width disk shears machine.
