With foreign food culture getting into China’s major cities, the local catering is facing challenges., People’s attitudes to the concept of "eat what" and "how to eat" are changing with the change of diet concept. Foreign food not only focuses on the taste but also focuses on ancillary environmental and tableware, so that people have more pleasure at the. At present, most of China’s catering industry energy is invested into food ingredients innovation, but the tableware design is neglected. This paper discusses the optimal design of Sichuan hot pot dishes, hoping to enhance people’s pleasure during the eating process, to highlight the Sichuan hot pot food specialties and to promote the development of local hot pot food.Sichuan hot pot dishes have been using Chinese style tableware, there needs to highlight its diet specialties and ease of use during the eating process. Through surveying and analysis Sichuan hot pot dishes, this paper, basing on the factors of shape, material, color and so on, analyzed Sichuan hot pot eating patterns and food culture characteristics to identify the lack of its own characteristics embodied in Sichuan hot pot and the inconvenience in use. On this basis, explore the optimization of the design of hot dishes to propose solutions. Through the optimization of tableware design, enhance the integrity and recognizable of Sichuan hot pot, enhance use convenient during the meal, make diners gets more spiritual experience and feel the essence of Sichuan hotpot culture, look for the approach shift from formal to functional design of Sichuan hot pot dishes in order to achieve the unity between food and tableware.
