Rectangular section flat volute springs belongs to profiled spring steel wire. This kind of special spring steel wire requires a small width-to-thickness ratio and a high precision, and which mainly adopts rolling process. Enterprise mainly rolls wire by the way of scattered production. In order to improve production efficiency and reduce the number of workers, designing a rectangular section flat volute springs automated rolling line has become an urgent need of volute spring manufacturing industry.Through the analysis of characteristics of spring steel raw materials60Si2MnA. and volute spring production process, planned and designed the rolling line’s overall program, launched a detailed design and established a rectangular section flat volute spring automated rolling lines, which has solved many problems caused by scattered production in some enterprises. Rolling machine is the most important part in the whole rolling line, thus it is important to make a detailed design on rolling mill equipment based on the modular concept, which mainly includes parameter design and structural design. At the same time, finite element analysis software ANSYS is used to conduct the thermal analysis and numerical modal analysis to verify the reasonableness of the mill design.Around research and development of the rolling line, the thesis mainly discusses the following contexts:(1) Explore the factors affecting the quality of rolling from the perspective of rolling processes, and analyze the functional configuration of the rolling line’s main equipment, then the overall design of the rolling line is presented.(2) Rolling mill parameter calculation and structural design. Based on the process of traditional mill design, the rolling parameters are calculated, which include rolling power, speed and size parameters of mill itself. Then the structural of the mill will be designed. including the main design of forming mill and broadening mill, and the selection of affiliated pieces.(3) Temperature field analysis of roll in the rolling process will be conducted. Applied the theory of heat transfer, access to relevant literature, found out the simulated parameter values needed for the analysis, and then the temperature field is analyzed and the roll temperature distribution is determined.(4) The dynamic characteristics research of the main structure of forming mill will be analyzed. The top ten order’s natural frequencies and corresponding modes will be concludedby modal analysis. Through the study of the mill vibration type, some certain optimization isproposed to deal with de defects of the mill. The research achievement has been applied in the rolling line construction in somecompanies, and which has reached its expected target. At the same time, the research result canact as a reference for similar projects.
