The disadvantages of the current coal mine safety monitoring system is with asingle function and a narrow transmission range, while the information is transmittedwith a great delay, resulting in asymmetric of the information, which is not conducive tomake a timely response to emergency situations. For this reason, it is necessary to studya more effective, more reliable and more intelligent monitoring system. Using themodern technology of Internet of Things, this paper studies a set of coal mineproduction safety monitoring platform, which consists of three sub-systems, ZigBeewireless sensor network, Internet of Things server and PC visual software.The paper firstly analizes the feather of the ZigBee wireless technology and itsapplication fields. And after that, the paper designes the hardware of the ZigBee nodeusing a MSP430MCU and a CC2530wireless ZigBee chip, which equiped with aMJC4gas sensor and a PHWS wind speed sensor, and it achieves a scalable wirelesssensor node. The application software is designed with Z-Stack protocol.Sencondly,the paper analyzes the function of the Internet of Things server,designes a set of the software base on the Linux, which include the serial port module,the share memory module and the semi-synchronous semi-asynchronous process poolmodule, achieving the function of visiting the internet. The system has a great highconcurrency characteristic.Thirdly, the paper designes a set of the monitoring software, considering the needof the real time monitoring in the coal mine. The software consists of severalmonitoring methods, which include real time data displaying, real time curve displaying,topology of networks displaying, maps monitoring and network controlling. All of theseprovide an important basis for the monitor department above the coal mine.Lastly, the paper does a system test for the monitoring platform.The paper provides a complete and feasible solution for the coal mine monitordepartment. At the same time, the system itself is a of great expansibility platform. Thewireless sensor network can carry a lot of different sensors which achieve differentfunctions. The server can realize different visit methods, which is in favour of coal mineproduction hyalinizing and standardization. All of these will improve the coal mineproduction monitor level of our country, and the system has a great application prospect.
