As a primary component of the condenser in steam turbine, the water chamber is crucial to the supply of circulating water and the system of cooling water. When passing through the condenser, the steam is chilled by the cooling water running through the chamber and changes into condensed water, and then is used again in the turbine. There is a certain type of turbine using arc chamber whose shape and structure remains basically unchanged. However, when steam turbines of this type with different specifications are to be designed, the water chamber will have to be redesigned and all its engineering drawings will have to be re-drafted, which will definitely reduce the efficiency, consume a large amount of time and finally affect the benefits of the enterprise. Therefore, it is of great significance to develop a set of software for the parametric design of water chamber so as to solve the problem.Based on AutoCAD R14and taking ObjectARX as the redevelopment tool, a software system for the parametric design of arc water chamber in steam turbine with Visual C++6.0are developed.First and foremost, the principles and methods of the redevelopment of the chamber by ObjectARX are briefly introduced, the componential elements in the referential drawings of water chamber provided by users are analyzed, their basic functions are extracted, and finally a drawing tool function, a function for the display of special graphic module, and a quality calculation function are developed.Then, with the knowledge of user requirements, the necessary parameters needed by the parametric design of water chamber are determined, a general framework of the software are designed, a database system and a man-machine interactive interface are developed, and a brief interference verification analysis are conducted.Furthermore, a general drawing template applicable to all components of the water chamber are developed, parameterized drawing programs for all components are written. A detailed study on the technology of the dynamic generation of component information are done, and the automatic output method of the specification bar and the title bar are introduced.Last but not least, an example of the parametric design of water chamber is given. The system shows its running stability on the AutoCAD R14, which proves that the software can adequately realize user’s requirements.
