With the urban function getting complicated and diverse, the city space,especially the city center space, shows the characteristics of blocks scaleminiaturization. Small block neighborhood is conducive to encouraging travellingwithout motor vehicles; solving the traffic congestion, improving urban environmentquality, refining land use, increasing business street interface, etc. At present, smallblock urban spatial studies are mainly about traffic and neighborhood areas of life.While, urban thermal environment research, as a representative of urban heat islandeffect, is relatively lack. This research purpose is to construct and from the smallblock urban space model, evaluate it from the perspective of urban thermalenvironment, explore the thermal environment benefit maximization principle ofsmall block urban space design.The paper, basing on the CFD thermal environment simulation of the city spacemodel, researches the different thermal comfort result of small neighborhood urbanspatial pattern in hot summer and warm winter area city, and sums up the thermalenvironment improvement strategy. First of all, analyzes the related problems ofurban climate and urban thermal environment, and reviews the research progress athome and abroad, makes clear the existing research problems and the insufficiency,points out urban thermal environment research target in the field of urban planning.Secondly, researches the urban thermal environment related basic theory,summarizes the related research thought, content and the methods of the urbanthermal environment optimization, which provide the relevant theoretical basis forthe thermal environment simulation analysis. Once again, construct the small blockurban space model, which including two parts: the overall space mode and localstreet valley model. The overall space models are constructed by summary analysisof small block neighborhood in different cities combined with related buildinglayout standard requirement. With a single neighborhood decorate as the foundation,through the block combination and function layout, eventually got six smallneighborhood of urban space mode. Local street valley models, constructed by thespace elements which influencing street thermal environment, include two parts:different block scale model and different street cross form model. Finally, the smallblock urban space model will be tested by simulation. Through the contrast analysis,choose the more optimized model, and summarize the strategies of urban thermalenvironment optimization.The paper studies the small block urban spatial pattern and the relationshipbetween urban spatial structure and urban thermal environment. Put forward the constructive reconstruction strategy, in order to improve the urban thermalenvironment. Provide scientific reference for energy saving city design, so as torealize the health goals of sustainable development.
