The Application Of Regional Materials And Technology In Southeast Asian Resort Hotels

Resort Hotels is an important carrier of regional style in South Asia. But there are two main ways to express local style in the level of construction:one is the application of local traditional materials and technology, the other is the choice of modern materials and technology as a simulation of regional style. This article is based on the study of traditional regional materials and technology in South Asia, not only study and analyze the application of traditional regional materials and technology in Southeast Asian Resort Hotels,but also sum up the methods of expressing regional style by modern materials and technology in the design of Resort Hotels. Finally, combined with problems in the process from the concept stage to the construction stage of the specific project in the AZL studio, the author researched on the traditional and modern materials and technology applicated in every part of the Resort Hotels. The paper structure, as follows:Chapter1, the introduction, this part was to explain the theme of the thesis, and to introduce the background, Significance, methods and range of the research.Chapter2started from the introduction and summary of the basic materials and technology in Southeast Asia area, described the history and the specific practices of them.The main parts of this thesis were chapter3and4. According to the four main parts of the Resort Hotels, structural level, maintenance level, corridor(gray space),the organization of landscape and the site, chapter3and4discussed the application of traditional and modern materials and technology in the this four parts, combined with some typical cases and analysis chart by the author.At last, the chapter5was focused on the specific project the author participated in AZL studio,"the Resort Hotels design in Wenchang city Hainan Province". Regional style was the visual character of this project, but it was built by the methods of modern materials and technology.It is this contradiction that leads to the theme of this thesis, A deeper awareness and research on the regional materials and technology (traditional and modern)can be formed combined with this project.
