In this paper, analysis and research on chassis abnormal vibration of a coach at a particular speed is done, to find out what the real cause of abnormal vibration is with the method of combining theoretical analysis and experimental analysis.Firstly, making an overview of the development of the automotive vibration analysis, the finite element model of the coach frame is built in HYPERMESH according to the structural characteristics. Followed by the analysis on the vibration characteristics of the chassis and reasons of producing trouble, the results can be as judge of causing abnormal vibration. The analysis process of chassis vibration failure is set up, providing basic steps for failure diagnosis. The potential frequency range of the excitation system such as the engine, drive shaft and wheels is obtained based on the theory analysis of the excitation source causing abnormal vibration. Bonding modal analysis with frequency response analysis, the basic modal parameters can be verified, meanwhile vibration response of points under different working conditions is also got by modal test and road test. The results show that it is resonance causing coach chassis abnormal vibration due to the excitation frequency of wheel inhomogeneity and the natural frequency of the frame coinciding. The improvement suggestions is put forward for the chassis abnormal vibrationResearch process and methods on chassis abnormal vibration of related coach provide reference value and certain significance for the chassis in dynamic design and optimizing, and analytical method in vehicle vibration failure analysis, reducing abnormal vibration as well as improving the performance of the car.
