In this paper, combined with the technical condition of the lead-acid battery production enterprises, the author proposes a new type of cold working of lead shot, the author develops the automatic free molten lead pellet mill, making full use of the PLC control technology, the sensor technology, finite element analysis theory, and the automatic free molten lead pellet mil has been put into market and uses. The pellet mill can reduce labor intensity, reduce energy consumption, to solve issues such as lead dust contamination, and specific research elements are as follows:(1)The author inspects the course of development of lead-acid batteries, and understands its working principle and the manufacturing process; proposes cold processing method of lead shot, and studies in-depth of the granulation method’s feasibility; after appreciation of the meaning and purpose of this study, combining the actual situation of the enterprise, the author proposes design requirements and equipment technical indicators.(2) Mechanical system design of fully automatic free melt lead pellet mill. On the basis of the requirements of the structural design, the author comes up with the overall design, and gives the detailed design of key devices:on the feeding device, turn feeding device, the clamping mechanism, sliced assembly, roller cutting assembly, and raises the processing technology based on lead shot process design.(3) This part describes the design of control system of the fully automatic free melt lead pellet mill. According to equipment functional requirements, combining with PLC control theory, and design hardware and software which control systems need, and hardware design includes the selection of the PLC, the selection of the touch screen, servo motor selection and so on, software design includes control principle structure, electrical control principle and control flow design(4) Roll Finite Element Analysis. Based on the theory of ANSYS finite element analysis, the author introduces the roll in SolidWorks modeling, importing ANSYS Workbench, defining unit properties and material properties of the roll, meshing and mesh refinement, adding constraints and load, completing finite element analysis; analyze the causes of stress, strain, and displacement contours to explore reasonableness of the roll structure. (5) Based on the above contents to improve the processing, assembly and commissioning of the prototype, and reflect the prototype mechanical systems, control systems, lead shot, production capacity and so on.(6) Summary and Outlook, which mainly summarizes the main work and innovation, and puts forward the outlook about the upgrade of the equipment in the future.
