With the progress of times, the development of economic, and the improvement of people’s awareness about ecological environment, the rise of modem ecological garden city construction thought, people live in the city more and more want to have a beautiful living environment and excellent living space, so that improving the urban green coverage, beautification and improving the urban environment,and building a sustainable development of ecological city is more and more important. However, in the small town construction, as some wrong thought influence, the effect of recent is often paid a lot of attention to, and the long-term development is ignored; in the hard construction Spends a lot of time, in plants landscape rarely makes an effort. Throughout so much small towns’ construction, in landscape construction aspects, we will find that planning is unreasonable and it is so far for ecology development request. The total of the urban green space, urban green coverage rate and the per capita public green space is low. It has a wide gap between the small town and the big city’s landscape construction. So it has an important significance about the plants landscape of urban green space in the small town.Based on the plants community theory, landscape ecology theory, urban ecology theory, landscape aesthetics theory, the paper’s study object is plants landscape of the urban green space in Rugao old town. Through the investigation and study, first of all, the plants landscape of configuration mode is analyzed; again,from ornamental characteristics direction, the plants landscape of ornamental characteristics are analyzed in color, seasonal phenomena, smell aspects; Then make SBE aesthetics quantitative evaluation for plants landscape of urban green space in Rugao old town; last, make an analysis of species composition. The main conclusions are as follows:1、Configuration mode aspect:Each type of urban green space is according to different site conditions, the function requirement and aesthetic requirements to plants configuration, plant landscape can combine with hard landscape nearby. But there is a little difference between different types of urban green space, Landscape heterogeneity is poor.2、Ornamental characteristics aspect:Plant color aspect, the proportion of color-leaf is small in leaf color. And the application frequency of red flowers is rich. Plant smell features aspect, in general, the species of fragrant plant is single, and the species of fragrant plants in different type of green space and frequency is similar. Seasonal phenomenon aspect, seasonal feature of spring and autumn is obvious, but ornamental period is very short.3、Aesthetics quantitative evaluation aspect:The order of average SBE value of each type of landscape from large to small:residential quarter green area, unit green area, road green space, park green space. Plant community structure, maintenance management, color changes, the application of the terrain and Canopy line, forest edge line have an important influence to SBE aesthetics quantitative evaluation of plants landscape.4、Species composition aspect:Species composition of plants is single, local features is not obvious, and A few of plant species is great amount of applications. So that, the similarity of different types of urban green space’s plants landscape is quite high.Finally, through the above analysis, we can make summary of feature of plants landscape of urban green space in Rugao old town, and puts forward the Suggestions for the optimization of the landscape. Expecting that plants landscape of urban green space in small town can develop with science, ecology, local, artistic.
