Production of power cables, communication cables produce a wide range ofapplications in people’s lives. Burial cable has been widely used in power transmission. Interms of power transmission, the burial cable meet the industry standard. And duringlaying the cables, we can save more space and materials. The burial cables are more safetybacause the cable is buried in the deep. Comparing with the overhead cable, it has a lowercost. The burial cable is placed in laying channels which is placed in deep earth. Sopeople have a lot trouble in repairing the burial cables, because the cable is buried in thedeep and has many kinds of faults. In this paper, to solve those problems, we design a newmethod which improves measurement accuracy, measuring speed and the safety. Thismethod which is based on ARM worked out a new measurement in visibility of cable fault. The facilities which are designed in this paper are more convenient and portable. Bymeans of this measuring method, we classified the reasons of cable fault and measurementmethods. This paper descript many standards of fault cable, for example, the reasons, types, themethod of measurement and the priciple of measurement. In this paper, we made someexperiments. Specifically, those measuring methods are based on the priciple, which ismake use of travelling wave signal. Then using the measuring methods, like low pressurepulse transmitting method, current pulse method and two pulse transmitting method ininitial measurement. Though comparing the different signal we can find out the reflectionsignal. Because travelling wave signal encounters a different point of failure have differentreflection signal. And in accurate measurement, we use audio induction method and soundmagnetic-synchronic to have a accurate location. audio induction method is based onregular voltage signal, and sound magnetic-synchronic is based on the different speedbetween sound signal and magnetic signal.Experiments proved that this method is more effective and feasible, because in initialmeasurements the the error range was0.5m and in accurate measurement we can foundout the accurate location.
