Automobile manufacturing quality affect automotive appearance and consumer propensity to buy, is also the magic weapon to open up the market in the fierce competition. This proposed requirements to the tolerance allocation automotive design optimization. Domestic and foreign scholars study more for rigid body tolerance allocation optimization, the flexible member, such as car body, limited to the idealized as a rigid body, making it difficult to meet the requirements of real tolerance allocation.In response to these issues, tolerance allocation method of doors and other pieces of flexible member is researched. The research mainly includes:Car body modeling and finite element analysis was given. By giving instances of Side panel, Hinges, the outer and inner panel of door, forward modeling and point cloud based car body inverse modeling was introduced. The model quality inspection and assembly is given. The car door finite element method is given. According to the characteristics that the outer panel of door is free-form surfaces, car door mesh was divided finite elements was analyzed based on UG Advanced Simulation, stress and strain of flexible stamping parts (car door) by its own gravity and the pressure of door accessories was analyzed.Car door tolerance allocation optimization based on finite element analysis. Traditional tolerance allocation method, principles of Monte Carlo, process capability index and computer-aided tolerance allocation method was introduced. The car door tolerance allocation optimization method based on finite element analyze is given. The idea and process of the allocation method was given, theoretical model tolerance allocation is calculated, allocated tolerance is analyzed by idealizing the model as a rigid body firstly and based on flexible later, tolerance was optimized, the effectiveness and practicality of the method was obtained.
