As one of the pivotal features in CNC machine tool, the numerical control turntable isindispensable for a number of CNC machine tools, especially for the multi-axis CNCmachine center. At present, the core transmission part is made of the worm and gear by themost of numerical control turntables. But it has easy transmitting worm and tear with lowcarrying capacity and low positioning accuracy, which greatly affects the positioningaccuracy, machining efficiency and service life of the numerical control turntable. Therefore,the new transmission mechanism is particularly urgent for the application of the developmentof the numerical control turntable with high-precision and high-torque. The globoidal cammechanism as a new transmission mechanism, which has compact structure, strong bearingcapacity, long life and easily to maintain, and these are superior to the worm and gear, so ithas caused great concern at home and abroad. The globoidal cam mechanism has fourdifferent types of roller. So an important topic is how to select reasonablely the type of theroller so as to get the best transmission characteristics for a new type numerical controlturntable. Therefore, the static and dynamic characteristics of the globoidal cam mechanismswith different roller types need an urgent and in-depth study. So in this paper, the law of thestatic and dynamic characteristics of the globoidal cams with four different types of roller arerevealed by the theory of space engagement, the methods of static analysis, modal analysisand transient dynamic analysis, and by the tools of UG and its secondary development, andthe use of the finite element analysis software of ANSYS Workbench. The main works in thisthesis can be concluded as the following:1) The derivation of profile equations of globoidal cam mechanisms with cylindrical,conical, spheroconical and spherical four different types of roller through the spaceengagement theory; the3D solid model, virtual assemble and motion simulation will be madefor different types of the globoidal cams by the software of UG and its secondarydevelopment tools Open Grip, so as to verify that the modeling is correct and reasonable.2) The static analysis of the globoidal cam mechanisms with four different types of rollerthrough the static block of the software of ANSYS Workbench under the same external load,after that the displacement contours, the strain contours and the stress contours will be gotten,then the results will be analyzed contrastively.3) The modal analysis of the globoidal cam mechanisms with four different types ofroller through the modal block of the software of ANSYS Workbench, the natural frequenciesand modal shapes of the globoidal cam mechanisms will be carried, then the results will beanalyzed contrastively.4) The transient dynamic analysis of the globoidal cam mechanisms with four different types of roller through the transient dynamic block of the software of ANSYS Workbench, sothe max stress or strain curves, and the max contact pressure curves of the globoidal cammechanisms will be gotten, then the results will be analyzed comparatively.In conclusion, the scientific theoretical basis will be carried out by this study for how toselect a suitable roller style globoidal cam mechanism for numerical control turntable, it willmake a positive role in promoting and enhancing the quality of our numerical controlturntables.
