Globoidal indexing cam mechanism is widely used in high-speed precision automatic machine tools, packaging machinery, construction machinery, textile machinery, printing machinery, etc. to achieve the intermittent motion, and it has the advantages of high-speed performance, high precision indexing, strong bearing capacity, smooth operation, compact structure, low maintenance. It can shorten the product development cycle to design globoidal indexing cam mechanism efficiently. Due to the difficulties in design and manufacture, the indexing cam of domestic packaging machine through the introduction of technology is still dependent on imports. It will facilitate the localization of tobacco machinery and technological innovation to carry out research work on globoidal indexing cam mechanism in packaging machine.The author focuses on globoidal indexing cam mechanism in high speed cigarette packaging machine, discusses the design process, analyzes the dynamic characteristics of the cam mechanism and proposes a method for optimizing the dynamic characteristics. What’s more, the parametric design system of globoidal indexing cam mechanism is developed.First of all, according to the characteristics of globoidal indexing cam mechanism, the design parameters are analyzed. The equations of conjugate surface and working profile are derived by using conjugate surface theory and coordinate transformation method. According to the operating characteristics of the packaging machine, modified sine acceleration motion is chosen to design the cam profile.Then, the three-dimensional model and the dynamic analysis model of globoidal indexing cam mechanism are established, the kinetic parameters are calculated and the virtual prototyping technology is used to analyze the characteristic of the mechanism. Simulation results show that the cam curve has a decisive influence on the dynamic parameters of the mechanism.After that, based on the means of modulating the motion law of cam curve and particle swarm optimization algorithm, a method is proposed to optimize the dynamic characteristics of the mechanism. Optimization results show that changing the weighting coefficients of the objective function can obtain different optimal dynamic performance by using the method.Eventually, in order to improve the efficiency of design and research on globoidal indexing cam mechanism, the parametric design system of globoidal indexing cam mechanism is developed by using C programming language and the secondary development tools of three-dimensional modeling software. The system has characteristic of simple operation and running stabilization.
