According to point engagement processing technology, based on spherical envelope indexing cam mechanism this paper puts forward globoidal indexing cam mechanism with steel ball and make research on geometric features, statics, kinematics and dynamics. Main tasks are as followed:Globoidal indexing cam mechanism with steel ball was proposed, and cam profile raceway and indexing plate ball seat were modified. Based on rotation tensor transformation method and spatial engagement principle profile equation of globoidal cam with double-circular arc raceway was derived. Pressure angle and helix angle were calculated, and analysis of influences on pressure angle exerted by the center span of mechanism, the radius of gyration of indexing plate and transmission ratio was made, and measures as how to reduce angle were come up with. Modeling of three-D was completed based on equation of cam profile.Ball motion of globoidal indexing cam mechanism was studied, and the rotation of steel ball had great influence on lubrication performance. Based on the analysis of steel ball motion to analyze the force of mechanism could get the axial force, radial force, peripheral force of cam and indexing plate, and main curvature at engagement point between cam profile and ball was obtained. According to Hertz theory contact characteristic was analyzed and contact force was calculated, and influence on contact characteristic was obtained by analysis of alpha angle at contact point and the radius of indexing plate.Fundamental characteristics of dynamic model were analyzed, and the dynamic system considering flexible shafts was constructed. Dynamic equations were solved by applying Runge-Kutta method, which could provide a theory for design and study of cam.Adams was applied to construct virtual prototype of mechanism, after strains and loads were put on, the accuracy of theory analysis could be verified by running the model.
