Studies On Green Space Quality Of The Main City In Huanggang

After thousands of years, urban green space has developed into the present model, paying attention to function, aesthetics and ecology. With a relative late start, the construction of Chinese green space formulated in1970’s, affected deeply by Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. In recent years, more discussions about urban green space construction and planning were deployed with the development of society, economy and the speedy pace of urbanism. Fully considering the current situation of Chinese city, National Standard for Urban Green Space was put forwarded and approved to implement since2002. Function was focused more by the standard when guiding urban green space planning.Researchers from SLU, Alnarp classified and concluded eight important characteristics of outdoor environment through investigation. Not only the existence and the amounts of these eight characteristics affect environmental perception to people, other elements, like size, figure and accessibility influence their psychological health.The paper analyzes urban green space in the main city of Huanggang from the following perspectives:National Standard for Urban Green Space,"The Eight Characteristics" and diversity of plant community. Suggestions are proposed and concluded as follows:1. The total size of the green space in the main city of Huanggang is1205.82ha and the ratio of green space is35.47%. The size of green space coverage is1266.11ha with a green coverage rate of37.24%. Index of each green space category needs to be improved to satisfy standard for national garden city.2. As for "The Eight Characteristics" in the main city of Huanggang, green space with each character is to be improved, especially Serene, Lush, Wild, which are considered as essential and popular to Huanggang citizens. The size and quantity of those green spaces are not enough and the management is expected to be enhanced. 3. Researches and plannings are suggested to consider more from psychological perception, space perception and participatory planning, not only function, master plan, opionions of professionals and leaders.4. After deeply studying on the abundant natural resource of Huanggang city and the structure of the main city, around880.01hector Public Park are suggested to be planned in the area. They are Yi-ai hu park and other three city parks, Long wang park and other three theme parks, roadside green space etc. The objective is to make green space could serve citizens within500meters and parks within1000meters.5.854.42hector Green Buffer and153.49hector Nursery are suggested to be planned. Among green space of Nursery, Wan fu is to be kept and Ba he and San taihe are newly planned.2129.3hector Other Green Space are planned, including Yangtze beach park and Bai tan hu ecological park etc. Much green space is expected to intersperse into cities.6. After investigating native plant species and communities with the whole Huanggang city, several native floras, which represent local feature and adapt native geology with high ornamental value, are analyzed and selected to build natural flora communities. Proposals are suggested on the main city of Huanggang, from the perspectives of road green space, public parks, green buffer, green space along river and flora community with color theme.
